From January 26, 2012:
Today's Beer Adventure: Harviestoun Old Engine Oil English Porter. 6.0% ABV. Purchased at SLGA. ~$3.75/330ml Bottle. Served in my stolen Boston Pizza pint glass.
The pour is jet black. Thick pour with very little head. Typically I like more head than this, but hey.. ;). Light light carbonation. The nose is roasty, almost burnt malt. Dark Chocolate. Oaty. A bit of smoke.
Good mouthfeel, creamy but perhaps thinner than I was expecting. Medium bodied I guess. Not disappointing.
Taste is roasted malt, wood, marmite, bittersweet chocolate, smoke, cherries? Very nice porter. Not as bitter as I had expected, which is a plus for me. Quite drinkable. Very enjoyable. Delicious. Will buy again for certain. 9/10
